In Kyrgyzstan, teacher training is being reformed to combat bullying

Serious reforms in teacher training are planned in the Kyrgyz education system. The main reason for this is the alarming results of studies showing that 32% of schoolchildren face bullying. In response to this issue, a draft resolution has been proposed, which suggests a revision of the principles for training future educators in universities.

This document, developed by the relevant authorities, aims to update the curricula in higher education institutions, taking into account the transition to a 12-year school education system. Special attention is given to psychological and pedagogical education and special pedagogy, which will allow for the training of qualified specialists, such as tutors and defectologists, necessary for creating an inclusive educational environment and providing psychological and pedagogical support to students.

The changes will also affect the field of information technology. It is proposed to allocate the field of computer science as a separate specialty, so that new teachers can teach students the basics of programming and working with artificial intelligence. In addition, the project includes the introduction of new master's courses in educational management and andragogy. According to the reform initiators, these changes will not require additional budget expenditures and will help meet the modern demands of the labor market and the new standards of the Ministry of Education.
