During the meeting, Tokayev emphasized that the introduced innovation will complete the construction of the political structure that has been worked on for several years. He outlined the concept of creating the institute of the vice president of the Republic of Kazakhstan and its enshrinement in the country's constitution.
According to the president, the candidacy for vice president will be proposed by him and approved by the parliament by a simple majority vote. The powers of the new vice president will be determined by the head of state himself.
“The vice president will represent Kazakhstan at international venues, participate in negotiations with foreign delegations, represent the president in parliament, and also interact with various socio-political, scientific, and cultural organizations both within the country and abroad,” Tokayev specified.
In connection with the creation of the new position, it is planned to abolish a number of administrative structures that support the work of the current parliament, as well as the position of state advisor.
“The functions of the presidential administration and its management will be reviewed in light of real needs,” Tokayev concluded.
