The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, announced the introduction of a new position of Vice President of the country during his speech at the V National Kurultai meeting in Kyzylorda, as reported by the media.
According to him, the candidate for the position of Vice President will be approved by the President himself, and this position should be enshrined in the Constitution.
Tokayev noted that "the scope of the Vice President's powers will be determined by the President." He added that it is expected that the Vice President will represent Kazakhstan at international events and negotiations with foreign delegations, as well as speak on behalf of the President in Parliament. In addition, the Vice President will interact with socio-political, scientific, and cultural organizations, as well as carry out other assignments from the head of state.
In connection with the creation of the new position, the role of State Advisor, currently held by Erlan Karin, will be abolished, along with some structures supporting the work of the current Parliament.
