In the state of Jharkhand, near the city of Chaibasa, an aggressive elephant has killed 22 people in a short period of time, including an eight-month-old infant and a zoologist who was invited to tame it. This was reported by the publication Thirty Mile Zone.

The first attack occurred on New Year's Eve when the elephant trampled a family with two children, starting its series of attacks. It can be easily recognized by one tusk, and local authorities are strongly urging residents to stay in their homes and avoid forest walks.

According to zoologists, such aggressive behavior may be related to the must period, which is a hormonal phase of high aggression lasting about 20 days. During this time, the testosterone level in the elephant can increase by 100 times.

Forest department officials believe that the young male, having separated from the herd, has become particularly aggressive.
