The State Committee for National Security (GKNB) conducted inspections of pawnshops in the city of Osh and the region at the request of Kamchybek Tashiev, who holds the position of Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers.
According to reports, inspections of the activities of pawnshops operating in the region were initiated in conjunction with the Southern Territorial Administration of the Financial Supervision Service and the State Tax Service.
During the initial inspections, cases of exceeding interest rates were discovered, which violates current legislation. As a result, administrative measures were taken against the violators.
More than 30 pawnshops were sealed, and additional inspections were scheduled, the results of which will serve as the basis for a legal assessment of their activities.
In addition, the GKNB is conducting operational activities to identify individuals engaged in illegal usury. According to the agency, such individuals provide loans to the population on unfair terms, appropriate collateral, and earn significant profits.
