On January 23, a lecture will be held at the National Museum of Fine Arts named after Gapar Aitiev, conducted by Stephanie Dvareckas. It is titled "When Mountains Fall: The Art of Landscape in Soviet Kyrgyzstan."

According to the press service of the Ministry of Culture, this event will take place in English as part of the exhibition titled "Another Landscape. Art, History, Ecology."

During the lecture, Stephanie Dvareckas will explore the genre of landscape in the context of Kyrgyz art, examining the interaction of socialist realism with local ecology and cultural motifs. She noted that the combination of moods, color solutions, and ornaments led to the creation of a unique artistic form that aligned with Soviet ideals while simultaneously strengthening Kyrgyz identity.

This lecture is part of her dissertation research dedicated to Kazakh and Kyrgyz art.

Stephanie R. Dvareckas serves as the co-curator of the exhibition "Another Landscape. Art, History, Ecology," is a graduate student in the Department of Art History at Rutgers University, and is a fellow of the Dodge Avenir program at the Zimmerli Art Museum. In her work, she focuses on the collection of nonconformist art from the Soviet Union gathered by Norton and Nancy Dodge. Stephanie also holds a master's degree in the history, theory, and criticism of art from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a bachelor's degree from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
