According to the State National Security Committee (GKNB) of the Kyrgyz Republic, there has been a recent increase in false reports of terrorist acts.
Experts note that such notifications come from both adults and teenagers.
In response to these incidents, law enforcement agencies are taking measures based on the potential threat to public safety, conducting thorough checks to prevent possible negative consequences. Such situations divert law enforcement resources from their primary duties and harm the country's budget.
“A false report of a terrorist act is considered a threat to public safety. These reports disrupt the usual order of life, paralyze the work of institutions and organizations, and necessitate the evacuation of citizens,” the statement emphasizes.
Most often, the targets of such crimes are educational institutions, shopping and entertainment centers. It is important to note that the crime is considered committed from the moment the false report of a terrorist act is received, and serious penalties are provided for such actions, including imprisonment. Criminal liability for this offense is stipulated under Article 259 "Knowingly False Report of a Terrorist Act" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
“If such actions are committed by minors, their parents are held responsible,” the GKNB added.
In this regard, specialists have called on parents to conduct explanatory work with their children and monitor their behavior. Adults are also advised to refrain from actions that may harm society and the state for personal or external interests.
