A recent incident at the Talyp Akun school in the village of Chyrak, located in the Jeti-Oguz district of the Issyk-Kul region, has prompted a response from the Ministry of Education.

A video has surfaced on social media showing a physical education teacher striking his students with his fists.

The Ministry of Education characterized this incident as violence against children, emphasizing that it indicates a serious violation of professional ethics on the part of the educator.

According to a ministry order dated January 19, 2026, preventive measures are being implemented across the country. In this regard, the ministry urges not to draw conclusions about the situation based solely on this one incident.

“Additionally, comprehensive explanatory activities involving educators, students, and parents are planned. The Republican Institute for Advanced Training and Retraining of Educational Workers has been instructed to enhance efforts regarding the issues of teachers' professional ethics in Kyrgyzstan,” the Ministry of Education added.

According to police information, on January 28 at around 11:00 AM, a physical education teacher born in 1996 called four eighth-graders to the board and struck them as a form of "educational measures."

A forensic medical examination was appointed to check for bodily injuries. However, after discussions with the students' representatives, the parents declined to conduct the examination, stating that they had no claims.

As a result of the investigation, no criminal case was initiated, but the teacher was held accountable under Article 56 (“Beatings”) of the Code of Offenses.
