The shortage of teachers is observed in both private and public schools, reported Rahat Musaeva, head of the Department of Education, at a meeting of the permanent commission of the Bishkek City Council on issues of economics, budget, finance, and investments on February 6.

Deputy Ramina Idyrova from the "Adilet" party previously expressed concern about the significant lack of teachers and inquired about the steps planned for 2026 to address this issue.

She noted that many parents are sending their children to private educational institutions and kindergartens because public schools lack teachers to conduct certain classes.

According to her, out of five lessons a day, only two can be conducted as some classes are absent.

Rahat Musaeva added that this year the deposit amount for young teachers has been doubled—from 7.7 million soms to 13 million 190.9 thousand soms. This also serves as an additional incentive for new educators.

“The city mayor held meetings with university rectors, resulting in the signing of a memorandum. Currently, 384 final-year students are undergoing dual training, combining work with study. At the moment, there is a shortage of teachers in both public and private schools—about 400 positions are lacking,” noted R. Musaeva.
