Three football field-length nets raised from the bottom of Issyk-Kul

Inspectors working in the Issyk-Kul region conducted a raid on March 23, during which prohibited fishing nets with a total length of 300 meters were raised from the lake's waters. These nets, laid out in a row, can be compared in length to three football fields.

According to information provided by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, such nets are real "traps" that have been causing damage to fish stocks and polluting the ecological environment of the lake with plastic waste for many years.

These actions are part of the implementation of the decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic No. 131, which concerns urgent measures for the protection of the ecology of Issyk-Kul.

The ministry also emphasized that the use of synthetic nets poses a serious threat to the country's natural heritage. The agency promised to continue raids to clean water bodies and combat poaching until the lake is completely cleared.
