According to information presented by Suyorkul Ashimjan uulu, the chief specialist of the forecasting, control, and monitoring department of the financial market regulation and supervision service, in 2025, pawnshops in Kyrgyzstan were fined a total of approximately 1.5 million soms. The information was provided during a live broadcast of the program "Elden Sobol" by the agency "Kabar".
Ashimjan uulu noted that new rules came into effect for pawnshops on May 23, 2024, which not only limit interest rates but also prohibit the transfer of clients' credit history information to third parties. This means that even in the event of a delay, the client's data remains confidential and is not subject to disclosure, including the transfer of information to credit histories.

He also reported that throughout 2025, about 35 pawnshops lost their licenses, and their activities were temporarily halted. As part of inspections that affected 30-40 pawnshops, fines were imposed and directives were issued.
“Pawnshops provided responses to the directives within 30 days, and all identified violations were rectified in accordance with the law. The largest fine amounted to 310 thousand soms, and the total amount of fines for 2025 was approximately 1.5 million soms,” he concluded.
