There is a tightening of control over pawnshop activities in the country. Currently, there are 431 registered pawnshops in Kyrgyzstan, and the maximum interest rate for their services should not exceed 29.99%. This was reported by Suyorkul Ashimjan uulu, the chief specialist of the forecasting and financial market control department, during a live broadcast of the program "Elden Sobol" by the Kabar agency.

“The registry contains 431 pawnshops, all of which have the necessary permits. According to our requirements, pawnshops are obliged to provide reports both quarterly and annually. We are developing inspection plans based on the annual plan, including quarterly and annual inspections. All reports are subject to analysis, and in case of deficiencies, they are included in our schedule of planned inspections,” he explained.
If complaints are received from citizens or violations by pawnshops are recorded, unscheduled inspections are conducted. In case of violations, a fine of 28,000 soms is imposed for each specific violation. If violations are repeated within a year, the pawnshop's license may be suspended, and its activities will be halted for 90 days,” he added.
Ashimjan uulu also emphasized that the maximum interest rate in pawnshops should not exceed 29.99%.
