In Kyrgyzstan, 14.5 billion kWh of electricity is produced annually, including all small hydropower plants and thermal power plants. This was announced at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh Committee, where Deputy Minister of Energy Altynbek Rysbekov spoke.

He also noted that the current demand for electricity reaches about 20 billion kWh, creating a deficit of 4.3 billion kWh.

“To cover this deficit, we are forced to import electricity. In 2025, imports came from Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Russia. At the same time, there is a constant increase in consumption, which is currently at 7%. For comparison, in Russia this figure is between 1.5% - 3%,” the deputy minister added.
