To meet the deficit, electricity is planned to be imported from other countries.
Today, at a meeting of the parliamentary committee, Deputy Minister of Energy Altynbek Rysbekov reported that the import of electricity in Kyrgyzstan will continue in 2026.
Rysbekov noted that the current electricity deficit is approximately 4.5 billion kWh.
According to him, Kyrgyzstan produces 14.5 billion kWh of electricity annually, but with the increase in consumption, it is necessary to compensate for the shortfall. Last year, imports amounted to 4.3 billion kWh. "The import of electricity will continue this year as well. We sell it to the population at a social tariff, and the difference is covered by NESK," Rysbekov added.
