Kyrgyzstan introduces liability for violations of halal industry standards

The Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan has presented a draft law aimed at introducing liability for violations related to halal products and halal services issued without the necessary certification. According to the ministry, changes will be made to the Code of Administrative Offenses.

The law "On the Halal Industry" establishes clear requirements for the production, certification, and labeling of products related to halal. The new project also provides for liability for organizations engaged in certification in case of their non-compliance with established rules.

In addition to this, the ministry is actively working on improving the halal certification system: plans include the digitization of the certificate issuance process, increasing the transparency of control procedures and labeling, as well as strengthening oversight of production processes.

These measures are aimed at protecting consumer rights and increasing trust in halal products among the population of Kyrgyzstan.

It is worth noting that previously identified violations, including cases of pork DNA found in some producers, have been successfully addressed through the revision of production processes and repeated laboratory testing.
