In Kyrgyzstan, fines are proposed for violations in the halal product sector

The draft law was approved by the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh in the first reading.

In Kyrgyzstan, the possibility of introducing administrative fines for non-compliance with the legislation in the halal product sector is being considered. This was reported at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh committee on finance, budget, entrepreneurship, and competition development by Sultan Akhmatov, Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce.

He noted that the existing law "On the Halal Industry in the Kyrgyz Republic" already stipulates the need for accountability for violations; however, the Code of Offenses lacks the necessary article. The proposed draft law aims to address this shortcoming by introducing a new provision — "Violation of the requirements of the legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic in the halal industry."

According to this project, individuals producing halal products or providing halal services without the appropriate documents will face a fine of 7,500 soms, while legal entities will be fined 23,000 soms.

Additionally, companies that violate the procedure for confirming the compliance of halal products and services may receive a fine of 13,000 soms. Cases in this category will be handled by the authorized body in the field of health care.

The Deputy Minister also reminded about cases of violations in the issuance of halal certificates. As an example, he cited an incident involving the company "Rikha," which was accredited with violations, as pork was found in its products claimed to be halal. As a result, the license of this company was revoked.
