The proposal to introduce fines for non-compliance with the requirements established by the Law "On the Halal Industry in the Kyrgyz Republic" was voiced by Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce Sultan Akhmatov at a meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh dedicated to finance, budget, entrepreneurship, and competition.

According to Akhmatov, this law implies that violations of the norms will entail responsibility as provided by the Code of Offenses of Kyrgyzstan.

Currently, the relevant amendments to the code itself have not yet been made. The draft law proposes the addition of an article concerning "Violations of the requirements of the legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic in the field of the halal industry" to the Code of Offenses.

According to the draft, for violations related to the sale of halal products and services without supporting documents, individuals face fines of 7,500 soms, while legal entities face fines of 23,000 soms.

It is also proposed to impose a fine of 13,000 soms on legal entities for non-compliance in the procedure for confirming halal products and services. The consideration of cases of violations will be carried out by the authorized body in the field of health care.

Akhmatov noted that there have been cases in Kyrgyzstan of issuing certificates for halal products with serious violations. "The law clearly states the conditions for accreditation. For example, there was a situation where a product claimed to be halal actually contained pork. This concerns the company 'Rikha,' which had an incorrectly conducted accreditation. We revoked its license," added the deputy minister.

Committee members, summarizing the discussion, unanimously supported the draft law in the first reading.
