At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh Committee on Education, Science, and Culture, held on January 19, Deputy Minister Marat Tagaev announced the introduction of new requirements stating that all foreign films in cinemas must be shown with subtitles in the Kyrgyz language.

Additionally, plans to liquidate the institution "Kyrgyzfilm" became known. During the meeting, Tagaev also noted that changes would be made to the legislation concerning cinematography and that artistic requirements would be revised, including the mandatory presence of Kyrgyz subtitles for foreign films. He emphasized that this could cause dissatisfaction among some distributors.

Tagaev added that work on new documents is already underway, and the changes will be presented soon. "Undoubtedly, there will be those who are dissatisfied and may come with complaints, but we hope for your support," he addressed the committee members.
