At a meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on Science, Education, and Culture, it was announced that Kyrgyzstan is among the top five countries with a high level of domestic film production per capita. This information comes from a global ranking.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy Marat Tagaev reported that the republic produces between 80 to 100 films annually, created by both state institutions and private studios.

“The data from the global ranking shows that Kyrgyzstan ranks fifth in film production per capita, which indicates the dynamic development of our cinematography. Additionally, our viewers lead in Central Asia in watching domestic films, while in neighboring countries, over 50% of the audience prefers foreign films,” he added.

According to the official, ambitious projects in the field of film infrastructure are planned in the republic by 2026.

“Together with the Ministry of Construction, we intend to build a new film studio, the project of which is currently being developed. The creation of a Dolby Atmos recording studio is also planned, which will allow domestic filmmakers to avoid traveling abroad for sound recording, making it more economically viable,” he noted.
