Kyrgyzstan will receive a loan of 30 million dollars for monitoring wild animals

An additional 1.79 million dollars will be allocated as a grant


At a meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on agricultural policy, water resources, and environmental protection, it was announced that Kyrgyzstan will receive a loan of 30 million dollars for monitoring wild animals.

The Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, Zhanibek Kerimaliev, noted that the project aims to improve the health of the population and animals, as well as to protect the environment in the country.

The funds will be allocated under the "One Health" program from the International Development Association and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The loan will be provided for 50 years at 0% annual interest with a 10-year grace period, and an additional grant of 1.79 million dollars is also planned.

It is planned to build two new veterinary laboratories, modernize six existing ones, and purchase two mobile laboratories. Along the borders, 40 veterinary checkpoints will be established, and 78 livestock markets will receive updated veterinary and sanitary laboratories. Additionally, district veterinary offices and training bases for future veterinarians will be equipped with the necessary equipment. The project will also acquire vaccines against brucellosis, 32 pickups, and 22 mini-tractors, along with the creation of seven regional centers for the rehabilitation of wild animals.

Part of the allocated funds will also be directed to two other ministries.

The committee approved the project in the first reading after discussion.
