These agreements were signed on July 11, 2025, in Bishkek between the Kyrgyz Republic and the International Development Association, as well as the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which is the administrator of the Trust Fund intended for pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response.
The project's goal is to prevent pandemics, enhance the resilience of food systems, and protect the health of ecosystems in Central Asia. It involves the use of a comprehensive "One Health" approach, which includes the health of humans, animals, and the environment.
According to the agreements, Kyrgyzstan will receive:
- a loan of 30 million US dollars for a term of 50 years with a grace period of 10 years and a zero interest rate;
- a grant of 1.79 million US dollars.
It is planned that these funds will be directed towards:
- strengthening the monitoring and early detection of zoonotic infections in both humans and animals and wildlife;
- developing and modernizing laboratory networks, including equipping them with modern equipment and enhancing diagnostic capabilities;
- preventing antimicrobial resistance through the rational use of antibiotics in medicine and veterinary medicine;
- ensuring food safety at all stages of production and processing;
- creating and strengthening epidemiological surveillance systems, including monitoring wild and migratory animals;
- developing interagency coordination and a legal framework in the field of biological safety;
- training personnel, educating specialists, and implementing information platforms for data exchange.
