As part of the seminar in Bishkek, four regional projects aimed at improving climate resilience in Kyrgyzstan and other Central Asian countries were launched.

The main objectives of these projects include enhancing the adaptive capacity of rural communities and implementing sustainable climate solutions in key areas such as efficient water resource management, renewable energy, and energy-efficient construction. There is also an emphasis on expanding opportunities for "green" financing, highlighting the importance of regional cooperation in addressing climate challenges.

These initiatives are being implemented with the support of the Small Grants and Climate Innovations Fund (SGCIF), funded by the UK government and aimed at assisting international development. The fund is part of the regional program "Managing Climate Risks in Central Asia," which is being implemented by GIZ on behalf of the German government.

The opening of the seminar was attended by the British Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic and the German Ambassador. Representatives from various ministries, including the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Food Processing, as well as the Ministry of Economy and Trade, development partners, local companies, and financial institutions also participated in the event.

British Ambassador Nicholas Bowler noted: "We are proud to support the implementation of innovative climate solutions in Kyrgyzstan, including assistance to farmers with drip irrigation systems and energy-efficient homes. These projects will help local communities build a more sustainable future."

German Ambassador Monika Lenhard added: "The results of these projects have the potential to transcend national borders and serve as a model for other Central Asian countries. This approach aligns with the principles of German development policy."

List of projects:

- "Creating Conditions for Scaling Energy Innovations in Agriculture in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan": implemented by the NGO WHH in collaboration with Bargi Sabz and the CREEED Center, the project includes training for local companies and the implementation of technologies such as solar pumps and drip irrigation.

- "Irrigation Partnership in the Fergana Valley": organized by Helvetas and Youth of Osh, the project includes six fairs where 900 farmers from Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan can learn about modern water-saving technologies and financing.

- "Green Homes of Central Asia": implemented by GERES and Camp Alatoo, the project aims to create climate-resilient homes and promote energy-efficient construction in rural and suburban areas.

- "Overcoming Barriers to Climate Financing": the goal of the project is to eliminate barriers to financing climate initiatives in Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, as well as to create "green" financing mechanisms for commercial banks.

The SGCIF supports innovative and locally oriented projects that contribute to enhancing climate resilience, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and creating adaptive solutions for communities in Central Asia. This initiative underscores the joint contribution of the UK and Germany to the development of regional cooperation to ensure climate security in the region.
