In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, a Forum for Women Entrepreneurs was held as part of the Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC). The event took place under the slogan "Together for Green Innovations and Gender Equality."

The forum became a key platform for discussing pressing issues related to gender-oriented green innovations and sustainable development in Central and Western Asia.

Experts in gender policy and green technologies, winners of the CAREC 2025 Award, representatives of the Regional Gender Expert Group, international organizations, and women entrepreneurs from the region gathered at the event.

Zheng Wu, the director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) resident mission in Kyrgyzstan, emphasized the opportunities that green innovations and technologies provide. He noted that they can help address issues related to gender equality and climate change.

According to him, "clean energy, climate-resilient agriculture, and sustainable infrastructure can reduce health risks for women and lessen their workload. The implementation of digital and green technologies creates new opportunities for women in business, engineering, and leadership."

During the discussions, participants noted that the development of green technologies within CAREC could improve women's health, reduce unpaid labor, and open new prospects—from green jobs to expanding women's entrepreneurship.

Particular attention was paid to how green innovations can lead to systemic changes that strengthen community resilience and bring the CAREC region closer to the goals of sustainable and inclusive development.

Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce Sultan Akhmatov reported that the government has developed a program for the development of women's entrepreneurship for 2022-2026, highlighting this aspect in the entrepreneurship legislation, which underscores the importance of supporting women's business in the country.

He added, "This event provides a platform for exchanging views, with representatives from neighboring countries—Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan—as well as delegations from Azerbaijan and Georgia present."

The forum was held in an atmosphere of constructive dialogue and inspiration, becoming a platform for sharing experiences, establishing new partnerships, and jointly seeking solutions aimed at enhancing the role of women in the green economy.

The organization of the event was supported by the CAREC Program, the OSCE Academy, UNDP in Kyrgyzstan, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), "Eldik Bank," and the Unison Group of Companies.

The forum was an important step towards strengthening women's leadership, promoting green innovations, and achieving sustainable development goals in Central Asia.
