The forum is organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision with the support of the Global Snow Leopard and Ecosystem Protection Program (GSLEP) secretariat and the United Nations.
As part of the event, participants are working on developing joint initiatives aimed at branding Kyrgyzstan as the "country of the snow leopard," promoting ecotourism, and creating a sustainable international image for the country.
Speaking at the forum, Minister of Natural Resources Meder Mashiyev emphasized that nature protection is a fundamental element for sustainable development and ensuring national security.
"The snow leopard, representing high-altitude ecosystems, holds an important place in our strategy. Its conservation is already included in several national programs related to ecosystem approaches, sustainable tourism, pasture management, and climate change adaptation," he noted.
It is also worth mentioning that by a decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic dated December 29, 2023, the snow leopard was officially recognized as the National Symbol of the country.
