The cities of Osh and Yaroslavl signed a Protocol on Strengthening and Developing Bilateral Relations.
Osh Wins in the "Interethnic Relations" Nomination at the International Forum of Best Municipal Practices
On April 11, the anniversary V International Forum of "Best Municipal Practices" kicked off in Bishkek.
As part of the forum, the mayors of Osh, Kyrgyzstan, Aitmamad Kadyrbaev, and Yaroslavl, Russia, signed a Protocol of Intent for the development and strengthening of bilateral relations in various areas, including cultural, humanitarian, and economic cooperation in the interests of both cities.
According to A. Kadyrbaev, the implementation of joint projects and common cultural events is planned for 2018 as part of strengthening bilateral relations.
"The signed Protocol of Intent includes planned activities in the areas of investment market, tourism development, support for traditional crafts, education, culture, socially significant areas of the mining industry, and many other fields. Additionally, assistance will be provided for establishing business contacts between entrepreneurs, representatives of the business community, and social sphere institutions, including those in education and culture," he said.
The mayor also noted that the city administration is ready to ensure broad access for citizens to the culture of both cities and participation in joint events, including educational congresses, tourism forums, art exhibitions, fairs, business meetings, creative festivals, and more.
Moreover, the leaders of municipalities from other cities in Kyrgyzstan also signed agreements for development with foreign partner cities.
The forum is attended by more than 250 representatives of municipalities and local self-government bodies from 150 cities around the world, including a delegation from Osh. The forum will feature thematic sections addressing a wide range of urban management issues: economy, finance, inter-budgetary relations, investment climate, housing and communal services, social policy, ecology, information technology, international activities, regulation of interfaith and interethnic relations, as well as cultural uniqueness and identity of cities.
