On June 6 and 7, the I Bishkek Urban Forum will take place at the National Library.
The event is organized by the public foundations "Urban Initiatives," "Youth Cultural Center" with the support of the Bishkek City Hall and the "Soros - Kyrgyzstan" foundation.
The "Bishkek Urban Forum" is an international conference in the field of urban planning, urban studies, and related disciplines, a platform for exchanging experiences where active citizens, specialists, municipal employees, and business companies can discuss the topics and projects that concern them. The theme of the first forum, "Bishkek Upgrade," emphasizes the need for a qualitative renewal (upgrade) of the city, its perceptions, the search for a new development paradigm, and the identification of points for effort application," the announcement states.
It is noted that the forum program includes discussions on urbanism trends "Cities for Life" and "Urban Development Strategies," featuring invited experts from Russia, Germany, the Czech Republic, and Georgia.
The forum will also include a video block "Urban Conversations," an architectural exhibition "Learning from Pathways," and a project idea competition "Urban Initiatives."
