On October 29 and 30, a regional conference took place in Dushanbe, dedicated to issues of pandemic prevention, food system resilience, and ecosystem protection in Central Asia.

During the event, a Regional Coordination Council (RCC) for the "One Health" program was established, with Kyrgyzstan becoming a co-chair. At the first meeting of the RCC, a protocol was signed outlining the next steps aimed at strengthening cooperation in the areas of human, animal, and environmental health, as well as protecting ecosystems and ensuring food system resilience through a unified regional approach.

As part of the conference, the Kyrgyz delegation presented the national coordination mechanism adopted in the country for the implementation of the "One Health" program. Participants noted that Kyrgyzstan is actively working on implementing this approach to respond to potential threats in the healthcare system, including disease outbreaks and pandemics.

The "One Health" concept is based on an interdisciplinary approach that emphasizes the interconnection between human, animal, and environmental health. This approach facilitates the coordination of actions among healthcare professionals, veterinarians, ecologists, and policymakers to prevent and respond to health threats, particularly zoonotic diseases that can be transmitted between animals and humans.

In November 2023, with the support of the World Bank and other development partners, representatives from the health, agriculture, and environmental sectors of Central Asian countries approved the Regional Action Framework for the "One Health" initiative.
