Cooperation between the National Hospital of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Galilee Medical Center (Israel) has been ongoing for several years. This cooperation program is carried out with the active support of the ministries of health of both countries and with the support of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Several state and private funds from Israel act as sponsors of the program. The first visit under this program took place in the summer of 2012 when a team of doctors from Israel examined more than 200 patients and performed 49 high-tech surgeries, some of which were conducted not only for the first time in Kyrgyzstan but also in Central Asia.
The primary goal of this visit was to provide scientific and practical assistance to the ophthalmological service in the southern region of Kyrgyzstan.
For this purpose, 150 patients were examined in the eye microsurgery department of the Osh Interregional United Clinical Hospital, and 33 surgeries were performed. Additionally, a large conference was held in an interactive format. Ophthalmologists from the entire southern region participated in the conference.
Over the past two days, consultations and surgeries have been conducted in the eye microsurgery department of the National Hospital (Bishkek). During the visit, more than 250 patients were examined and 55 surgeries were performed. Among them, Israeli ophthalmologists consulted and provided recommendations regarding the eye health of one of the Siamese twins, Zita Rezakhanova.
On October 6, 2014, a scientific and practical conference was held in Bishkek, attended by ophthalmologists from Bishkek and the Chui region. The cooperation program is designed for a long period and includes opportunities for specialization for doctors and telemedicine.
