A working meeting was held at the Central Office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), attended by the head of the International Cooperation Department of MES, Kanat Karybai uulu, and the representative of the Asia-Pacific Regional Hub of the United Nations World Food Programme, Patau Chotkirativech. Employees of MES and the UN WFP also participated in the discussion, including program managers and specialists involved in joint projects related to disaster risk prevention and reduction, as well as humanitarian preparedness and climate change adaptation.

During the meeting, the parties discussed current cooperation and identified priority areas for the upcoming period. Within the framework of the UN WFP Country Strategic Plan for 2023–2027, a number of initiatives aimed at increasing the resilience of local communities to natural disasters are being implemented. These include the launch of gabion net production in the regions, improving the logistical base of MES, implementing the INFORM risk assessment model at the local community level, developing anticipatory measures, and modernizing infrastructure for storing humanitarian supplies.

Opportunities for expanding cooperation were also discussed, including the implementation of geoinformation solutions and the PRISM platform, scaling the INFORM risk index assessment to new regions, developing proactive action programs in mountainous areas, strengthening local climate risk warning systems, and improving mechanisms for pre-positioning food kits for vulnerable groups.

The importance of joint projects and the high level of trust between the parties were emphasized during the discussions. MES representatives noted the promptness and coordination of UN WFP actions in crisis situations and expressed their readiness to continue joint work on humanitarian and development initiatives at the national level.

Patau Chotkirativech and his colleagues from the Asia-Pacific Regional Hub thanked the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic for productive cooperation and confirmed their commitment to strengthening the technical and institutional capacity of MES, as well as adapting future programs to the strategic priorities of the country.

At the end of the negotiations, the parties agreed to continue jointly developing proposals for existing and new projects, as well as to consider the possibility of holding an additional technical session with donors and partners to discuss risk management practices, forestry sector issues, climate services, and the development of local warning systems.
