Kanat Sagynbaev held a meeting with Syed Sadiq
The Minister of Labor, Social Protection, and Migration of Kyrgyzstan, Kanat Sagynbaev, met with the head of the UN Women office in the country, Syed Sadiq.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Labor, the agenda of the meeting included issues of cooperation in the field of gender equality, women's empowerment, and the integration of gender policy into national programs and strategies.
Kanat Sagynbaev emphasized that the ministry places special importance on issues of women's rights protection, as well as combating discrimination and violence in all forms, including the active participation of women in decision-making at all levels. The minister added that the "zero tolerance for violence" policy proclaimed by President Sadyr Japarov is an important step in the fight against gender-based violence and is among the ministry's priority tasks.
To further strengthen cooperation, the minister proposed initiating joint projects aimed at improving the qualifications of specialists from social, law enforcement, and medical institutions on issues of gender sensitivity and violence prevention, as well as conducting informational and educational campaigns and supporting the economic independence of women, including women with disabilities.
Moreover, the minister emphasized the need for coordinated actions and active interaction among all state bodies, local self-governments, law enforcement agencies, and social services to create an effective system for preventing and responding to cases of violence. He noted that the Ministry of Labor plays a key role in coordinating these efforts and is preparing an expanded interdepartmental meeting on issues of protection against domestic violence. This event aims to discuss joint actions of state and social structures to enhance the effectiveness of violence prevention and response, as well as improving the legislative framework for the protection of women and children.
Syed Sadiq, for his part, expressed gratitude for the constructive cooperation. He highlighted the importance of clearly defining the directions of joint work within the framework of the signed memorandum, which will allow focusing on key priorities.
As a result of the meeting, both sides expressed their readiness to further strengthen partnerships and coordinate efforts to ensure equal rights and opportunities for women and men in Kyrgyzstan.
