Minister of Labor Sagynbaev Discussed Gender Equality with a Representative of UN Women

On October 31, 2025, the Minister of Labor, Social Protection, and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kanat Sagynbaev, held a meeting with Syed Sadik, the head of the UN Women structure in Kyrgyzstan. The ministry's press service reported this event.

During the meeting, issues of cooperation in the field of gender equality, women's empowerment, and the integration of gender policy into state programs and strategies were discussed.

Kanat Sagynbaev emphasized the importance of protecting women's rights, preventing discrimination and violence, as well as the necessity of their participation in decision-making at all levels. He noted that President Sadyr Japarov's initiative for "zero tolerance for violence" is becoming an important step in the fight against gender-based violence, which is a key focus of the ministry's work.

To deepen cooperation, the minister proposed considering the implementation of joint initiatives aimed at enhancing the qualifications of specialists in social protection, law enforcement, and medical services. Information and awareness campaigns and support for women's economic independence, including women with disabilities, were also discussed.

Additionally, Sagynbaev shared the ministry's plans to hold an inter-agency coordination meeting dedicated to preventing and responding to cases of domestic violence. The meeting will discuss joint actions of government bodies and social services, as well as assess the current situation and develop measures to improve legislation and enhance the effectiveness of violence prevention.

Syed Sadik, in turn, expressed gratitude for the constructive interaction and highlighted the importance of defining priorities for joint work within the framework of the existing memorandum.

At the end of the meeting, both parties confirmed their readiness to further strengthen partnership and coordinate efforts in promoting equal rights and opportunities for women and men in Kyrgyzstan.
