On October 31, 2000 seedlings of birch were planted in Chon-Kemin as part of the national program "Zhashyl Muras." This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision.

In the event organized jointly with the Agency for Community Development and Investment, the seedlings were planted over an area of 4 hectares in the Kichi-Kemin forest area.

The event was attended by Minister Meder Mashiev, Agency Director Mars Naspekov, and about 200 workers.

Meder Mashiev emphasized that the main goal of the "Zhashyl Muras" campaign is to increase green spaces across the country and create a healthy ecological environment for future generations.

The tree planting was timed to coincide with the Snow Leopard Day, celebrated on October 23. Currently, there are 11 snow leopards living in the territory of the Chon-Kemin State Natural Park.

Since the launch of this campaign in 2025, more than 8 million 300 thousand seedlings have been planted throughout the republic.
