The mission also includes leading experts in public health, NCD prevention, and digitalization, representing the WHO European Regional Office, the headquarters in Geneva, and regional offices.
The main task of the visit is to support the development and implementation of the National Strategy for the Prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases, with an emphasis on strengthening the health of the population and integrating preventive measures into primary health care (PHC).
During the visit, various activities are planned, including meetings with the Steering Committee and working groups, a thematic seminar on combating NCDs and integrating preventive approaches into PHC, as well as a field visit to a demonstration site to study practices of delegating authority to nurses and developing health promotion services. In addition, a high-level political dialogue will be held with representatives of the Presidential Administration, the Ministry of Economy and Trade, the Ministry of Finance, and the State Tax Service.
Minister Erkin Checheybaev noted that the prevention of non-communicable diseases is one of the most important areas of state policy. "By the president's order, our ministry must focus on preventive measures. We strive to become not only a ministry that deals with treatment but also an agency responsible for strengthening the health of the population. The development of a national strategy for NCDs is of immense importance to us," he added.
The minister also emphasized that the strategy will be intersectoral and will cover areas such as health care, education, economy, social protection, and local self-government. "Kyrgyzstan plans to adapt advanced international practices from WHO and implement them into its system. Special attention will be given to the development of primary health care and enhancing the role of family doctors, nurses, and social workers in the prevention of NCDs," he concluded.
