Cultural transformations in the Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism

On October 30, the Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, Joomart Otorbaev, met with the newly appointed Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic, Altynbek Maksutov.

The head of the Government noted that one of the priority tasks of state policy is the development of culture, historical and creative heritage, which forms the basis of national identity.

“In the field of culture, good management is necessary, which will not only preserve but also enhance the system of values, traditions, and beliefs passed down from generation to generation,” said Joomart Otorbaev.

The Prime Minister recommended A. Maksutov to more actively implement the experience of foreign countries in attracting patrons and private investments in the field of culture, which will allow for the modernization of cultural institutions, particularly museums and theaters, preserve historical and ethnic cultural traditions, and support folk creativity.

The head of the Government drew the Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism's attention to the activation of the process of implementing digital television in the country, noting that the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic is additionally allocating 100 million soms for digital broadcasting.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister noted that the tourism sector is a revenue-generating industry of Kyrgyzstan's economy and is closely linked to the fields of culture and information support.

The head of the Government also emphasized the need to strengthen the human resources potential of the ministry and provide comprehensive support to talented youth.

During the meeting, it was noted that in recent years Kyrgyzstan has widely showcased the ethnocultural diversity of the country by holding large-scale cultural events such as the “World Nomad Games,” the celebration of the anniversary of the great Kyrgyz akyn Toktogul Satylganov, and creating modern works such as the film “Kurmanjan Datka,” which received positive public resonance. Such events contribute to strengthening the positive image of Kyrgyzstan in the global cultural space.

“We expect from you specific, real actions and reforms aimed at raising the level of culture in the country, developing the tourism sector, as well as the field of information support for the population,” said Joomart Otorbaev.

The Prime Minister noted that the Government will continue to support the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism in its activities.
