On October 24, the Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, Joomart Otorbaev, participated in the first expanded investment hearings of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic regarding the project for the creation of an international transcontinental aviation hub based on the international airports of OJSC "Manas International Airport".

Opening the event, the head of the Government noted that the modernization of the civil aviation sector is one of the strategic directions for the development of Kyrgyzstan's economy under current conditions.

“Kyrgyzstan is a country with an open economy. The Republic is one of five countries in the world where the volume of trade exceeds the level of GDP.

To create an international transcontinental aviation hub based on the international airports of OJSC "Manas International Airport" in Kyrgyzstan, there is liberal legislation in the field of air transportation and a favorable investment climate has been established, which opens up great opportunities for investors,” emphasized the Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The head of the Government noted that Kyrgyzstan occupies a unique geographical position in the center of trans-Eurasian communication between Europe and Asia, which is advantageous for the development of international air logistics communications.

Joomart Otorbaev emphasized that the project for the creation of an international transcontinental aviation hub has strategic significance for the development of the Republic's transit potential.

“We are observing positive dynamics in passenger and cargo air transportation, with growth this year amounting to 33%. To promote this sector, it is necessary to develop regional airports, including in Osh and Isfana, where there are great prospects for passenger and cargo transportation, considering the high potential of the Fergana Valley,” said the head of the Government.

Due to the development of the international transcontinental aviation hub, it is planned to increase passenger traffic threefold in the next 5-7 years, which, in turn, will raise the income level of OJSC "Manas International Airport" to 3-4 billion soms per year. The growth of cargo air transportation in the next 5 years is expected to reach up to 60,000 tons per year, which translates to approximately 5 billion soms annually in financial terms.

During the hearings, presentations were made by nine investment companies representing Russia, Turkey, China, Moldova, and South Korea.

The event was attended by faction leaders, deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic V. Dily, representatives of investment funds and companies, as well as heads of relevant ministries and agencies, and representatives of the private sector.
