Recognizing the important role of education workers in teaching and raising the younger generation and in order to ensure the continuity of tradition, the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic has established October 5 as the annual Teacher's Day of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The corresponding decree was signed by the Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, Joomart Otorbaev. Additionally, the decree of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic "On the establishment of the professional holiday of Teacher's Day of the Kyrgyz Republic" dated February 5, 2008, No. 36 has been revoked.
It should be noted that Teacher's Day and the professional holiday for education workers was previously celebrated annually on the first Sunday of October, falling on different dates.
Meanwhile, October 5 is celebrated as Teacher's Day in more than 100 countries, which was established in 1994 as World Teacher's Day. This professional holiday is for all teachers, educators, and education workers, highlighting the role and achievements of teachers in the process of quality education at all levels, as well as their invaluable contribution to the development of society.
The historical prerequisite for the establishment of Teacher's Day was the Special Intergovernmental Conference on the Status of Teachers held on October 5, 1966, in Paris.
