Hero of the Kyrgyz Republic Mamitov Mitalip Mamitovich

Mitalip Mamitovich Mamitov — Soviet and Kyrgyz neurosurgeon


Born on December 16, 1939, in the village of Kok-Zhar, Nookat District, Osh Region.

In 1958, he graduated with honors from Kok-Djar Secondary School and entered the Kyzyl-Kiya Medical College, and then, in 1960, he enrolled in the Kyrgyz State Medical Institute in Frunze, which he also graduated from with honors.

From 1966 to 1971, he studied in the clinical residency and postgraduate studies at the Saint Petersburg Research Institute of Neurosurgery named after Professor A.L. Polenov.

In 1971, M. Mamitov defended his candidate dissertation in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg), and in 1972, he was awarded the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences in Moscow.

In 1987, he defended his doctoral dissertation in Kyiv, and in 1988, he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences in Moscow.

In 1990, he was awarded the academic title of "Professor" in Moscow.

From 1971 to 1973, he served as the head of the neurotraumatology department at the Republican Clinical Hospital of the Kyrgyz Republic.

From 1973 to 1998, he was an associate professor, and then a professor at the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery of the Kyrgyz State Medical Institute.

Since 1998 to the present, he has been the head of the Department of Neurosurgery at the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy named after I.K. Akhunbaev.

From 1995 to 2000, he was a deputy of the Assembly of People's Representatives of the 1st convocation of the Kyrgyz Republic.

From 1997 to 2002, he worked as the Vice-Rector for Research at the Medical Academy.

From 2002 to 2005, he served as the Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic.

From 2002 to 2007, he was the Rector of the Asian Medical Institute.

He is the author of more than 260 scientific works, including five monographs, eight inventions, and five educational manuals. Under his supervision, two doctoral and more than ten candidate dissertations have been defended.

1994 — UNESCO Medal "Booruker — Merciful";
1995 — Jubilee Medal "Manas";
2002 — International Prize "Rukhaniyat";
2006 — Gold Medal "One in a Million" from the Cambridge International Biographical Institute;
2008 — Gold Medal from the World Intellectual Property Organization (Geneva, Switzerland);
In various years, by the decree of the Presidents of the Kyrgyz Republic, M. Mamitov was awarded the titles of "Honored Worker of Science of the Kyrgyz Republic," "Honored Doctor of the Kyrgyz Republic," awarded the "Dank" medal and the highest order of the Kyrgyz Republic "Manas III degree." He is a laureate of the state prize of the Kyrgyz Republic in the field of science and technology.
In 2011, he was awarded the highest government award "Hero of the Kyrgyz Republic" with the Order "Ak Shumkar."
2015 — Akhunbaev Prize "Golden Scalpel";
2015 — Medal named after "Alykul Osmonov";
2016 — Medal named after "Chyngyz Aitmatov";
2017 — Medal "For Merits to the KGMA."
