Hero of the Kyrgyz Republic Beksultan Zhakievich Zhakiev
Beksultan Zhakiev - People's Writer of Kyrgyzstan, playwright, screenwriter, professor.
Born on January 16, 1936, in the village of Bokonbaev, Ton District, Issyk-Kul Region.
In 1953, he graduated from school in his native village and went to Frunze to continue his studies.
In 1958, he graduated from the philological faculty of KGU.
From 1960 to 1962, he was a student at the Higher Scriptwriting Courses in Moscow.
He began his career as a teacher at KGMU in 1958.
Since 1963, he has been a member of the script and repertoire committee of the film studio "Kyrgyzfilm".
From 1968 to 1972, he was the chief editor of the "Kyrgyzfilm" studio.
From 1975 to 1983, he was the chief editor of the United Repertoire and Editorial Committee of the Ministry of Culture of the Kyrgyz SSR.
Since 1972, he has been the chief editor of the State Cinema of the Kyrgyz SSR, and from 1984 to 1987, he was an associate professor at the Beyshenalieva Institute of Arts.
In 1987, he was elected secretary of the board of the Union of Theater Workers of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Beksultan Zhakiev entered literature in 1958 when his play "Fate of the Father" was published, placing him among the leading Kyrgyz playwrights.

Based on Zhakiev's screenplays, full-length films "Heritage" (1969), "Tale of Art" (1974), and "Chase" (1986) were made.
He is also known as a remarkable translator — "The Chamber" by S. Aleshino, "Red Tie" by S. Mikhalkov, "Mother Courage and Her Children" by B. Brecht, and the book about the legendary Khoja Nasreddin "The Tricks of Apendi" became the property of the Kyrgyz-speaking reader thanks to him.
The writer's contribution to the study and dissemination of the epic "Manas" is significant. In 2000, with the assistance of the National Commission for UNESCO Affairs in Kyrgyzstan, he initiated the project "The Art of Storytellers-Manaschi, Semeteichi, Dastanchis, and Akyns-Improvisers as an Integral Part of the Oral Heritage of Humanity." On November 7, 2003, as a result of the project carried out under his guidance, the art of akyns and storytellers of Kyrgyz epics was proclaimed a masterpiece of the oral intangible heritage of humanity at UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
Subsequently, the Kyrgyz epic "Manas" was included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
