Critic, literary scholar, poet K. Artykbaev was born in the village of Keper-Aryk in the Moscow district of the Kyrgyz SSR into a peasant family.
In 1951, he graduated from Budennovskaya Secondary School, and in 1956, he graduated from the philological faculty of KGU. He began his labor biography as the head of the department at the editorial office of the newspaper "Leninchil Zhas."
Since 1959, he headed the department of criticism and literary studies at the magazine "Ala-Too," and from 1964, he was in charge of the original artistic literature editorial office at the publishing house "Kyrgyzstan."
In 1966, he defended his dissertation for the degree of candidate, and in 1985, he earned the degree of Doctor of Philological Sciences.
Since 1967, he worked as a senior lecturer, associate professor, dean of the philological faculty, and head of the department of Kyrgyz literature at KGU named after the 50th anniversary of the USSR.
K. Artykbaev began publishing literary-critical articles from his student years. His first collection "Chalgyin" ("Reconnaissance") was published in 1962. He is the author of several monographs and literary-critical books, as well as several poetry collections, some of which are published in Russian. He has translated the poems and poems of R. Gamzatov, the works of M. Mirshakar, and the classics of Eastern poetry such as Yu. Balasagynsky, Myrza Shafi, and others into Kyrgyz.
A member of the CPSU since 1959, a member of the USSR Union of Writers since 1962, and a member of the USSR Union of Journalists since 1958.
He has been awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor, the Medal for Labor Veteran, and Honorary Certificates from the Central Committee of the Komsomol and the Central Committee of the Komsomol of Kyrgyzstan. He is recognized as an Excellent Worker of Public Education of the Kyrgyz SSR.
