Critic Sovetbek Baigaziev


Critic S. Baigaziev was born on May 1, 1945, in the village of Kairma, Jumgal District, Naryn Region, in a peasant family.
In 1964, he graduated from high school, in 1969 — from the philological faculty of KSU, and from 1972 to 1976, he studied part-time in the graduate school of the Institute of Language and Literature of the Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz SSR. He earned a Candidate of Philological Sciences degree in 1984. From 1969, he served in the ranks of the Soviet Army, and from 1971, he worked for one year as an editor at the State Publishing House of the Kyrgyz SSR. From 1972, he was an inspector for the non-departmental security in Frunze, from 1975, he worked as a correspondent for the newspaper "Kyrgyzstan Madeniyaty," and from 1977, he was a junior research fellow at the Institute of Language and Literature of the Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz SSR. Since 1985, he has been the head of the department of methodology for the Kyrgyz language and literature at the Institute of Pedagogy in Frunze.
He began his creative biography as a prose writer in 1967. His first collection of stories, "Menin boz torgojum" ("My Gray Lark"), was published in 1970. The main creative direction of the writer is literary-critical work. He is the author of three books — collections of literary-critical articles and journalism, published separately in the book "Inime kat" (1982) ("Letter to a Brother"). He is a co-author of the two-volume "History of Kyrgyz Soviet Literature" (1987) and the school "Program for Kyrgyz Literature for Grades V—XI" (1987). He authored the scientific-methodological book "Sample Requirements for School Textbooks of the Kyrgyz Language and Literature" (1987).
He has been a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union since 1972 and a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR since 1981.
He has been awarded a Certificate of Honor from the Central Committee of the Komsomol of the USSR and the Central Committee of the Komsomol of Kyrgyzstan.
