Critic, Literary Scholar Bibi Kerimdzhanova

Critic, literary scholar Bibi KerimdzhanovaCritic, literary scholar B. Kerimdzhanova was born on October 30, 1920, in the village of Beryu-bash in the current Ak-Suu district of the Issyk-Kul region, in a family of a poor peasant.
In 1937, she graduated from a workers' faculty, in 1941— from the Kyrgyz State Pedagogical Institute, in 1947— from the postgraduate program at the Kyrgyz Academy of Sciences of the USSR, and in 1950— from the Academy of Social Sciences under the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union in Moscow.
She earned a Candidate of Philological Sciences degree in 1950. She has been a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz SSR since 1958.
From 1951 to 1976, she headed the sector of Kyrgyz Soviet literature at the Institute of Language and Literature of the Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz SSR.
She has been publishing since 1946. In 1948, her book "Kyrgyz elinin makal-lakaptary" ("Kyrgyz Proverbs and Sayings") was published, which she compiled. She is the author of several monographs, collections of literary-critical articles dedicated to current issues of the literary process, literary studies of Kyrgyz literature, textbooks on native literature for the 10th grade of secondary school, and more. She is a co-author of the collective work "Essays on the History of Kyrgyz Soviet Literature," published in 1961.
She has been a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union since 1944 and a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR since 1944.
She has been awarded the Orders of the Badge of Honor and the Red Banner of Labor, medals for "Valiant Labor in the Great Patriotic War of 1941—1945," "For Valorous Labor. In Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of V. I. Lenin," and Honorary Certificates from the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR.
She was elected as a deputy of the Frunze Regional Council of People's Deputies of the 4th convocation and a member of the Central Electoral Commission for the elections of the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR (1955—1960).
