Poet Kamchi Junusov

Poet K. Junusov was born in the village of Besh-Badam in the Nookat district of the Osh region into a peasant family of poor farmers. Having lost his parents early, he was raised in the Jalal-Abad orphanage starting from 1929.
In 1937, he graduated from two courses of the agronomic (now agricultural) technical school in Osh, in 1938 — from the Republican Party School under the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan, and in 1943 — from a military-political school.
From 1955 to 1957, he was a student at the Higher Party School under the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union in Moscow.
For several years, K. Junusov worked as an editor of the district newspaper, head of the department at the newspaper "Leninchil Zhas" (1939—1940), and as the responsible secretary of the Osh regional newspaper "Lenin Jolu" (1947—1955).
During the Great Patriotic War, he worked in the Yangy-Naukat district as the political officer of the Ichkilik MTS (1942), was elected the first secretary of the Yangy-Naukat District Committee of the Komsomol of Kyrgyzstan (1944), and served as secretary of the Osh Regional Committee of the Komsomol of Kyrgyzstan (1944—1945).
From 1957 to 1971, he was the editor of the "Kyrgyzstan" publishing house, and from 1974 to 1977, he was the director of the Bureau of Propaganda of Fiction of the Union of Writers of Kyrgyzstan.
He began publishing in the late 1930s. His first poetry collection "Menin zherim" ("My Land") was published in 1950, followed by the novella "Zhypar" in 1957, and in 1960 — a collection of children's stories "Men" ("I"). The poet's poetry books have been published in Russian, Tatar, and Yakut languages. Individual poems and works have been published in Uzbek, Tajik, and Ukrainian languages. He translated selected works of M. Jalil and G. Tukai into Kyrgyz, as well as individual works of A. Navoi, Yakut and Khakass poets, and selected works from Russian classics — individual pieces by A. S. Pushkin, N. A. Nekrasov, T. G. Shevchenko, N. Tikhonov, and actively participated in the publication of collective collections of progressive writers from India, Japan, China, Pakistan, Jordan, Afghanistan, Angola, and Mongolia.
A member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union since 1944, a member of the Union of Soviet Writers since 1948, and a member of the Union of Journalists of the USSR since 1958.
He was awarded the Order of the "Badge of Honor," medals for "Labor Distinction," "For Valor in the Great Patriotic War of 1941—1945," "For Valor in Labor. In Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of V. I. Lenin," "30 Years of Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941—1945," "40 Years of Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941—1945," "Veteran of Labor," Honorary Certificates from the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR, Honorary Certificates from the Tatar ASSR, Honorary Certificate from the Yakut ASSR, and Honorary Certificate from the Central Committee of the Komsomol of Kyrgyzstan.
