 Poet Temirkul Umetaliev Poet T. Umetaliev was born in the village of Too-Djar in the Jangi-Jol district of the Osh region into a poor family. From 1924, he was raised in the Ak-Suu boarding school, and in 1929 he graduated from the Jalal-Abad Pedagogical College. In 1936-1937, he studied at the courses of the Communist Institute of Journalism named after "Pravda" in Moscow.

In 1929, T. Umetaliev was appointed as a primary school teacher in the village of Shankol in the Nookat district. From 1930, he worked as the head of the department of the Nookat District Committee of the Komsomol of Kyrgyzstan, from 1931 as the head of the department of the regional committee of the Komsomol of Kyrgyzstan, from 1933 to 1937 he was the editor of the newspaper "Kyrgyzstan Pioneri", from 1946 to 1953 he was the chief editor of the magazine "Ala-Too", from 1937 to 1940 he was the chairman, and from 1940 to 1941 he was the literary consultant of the board of the Union of Writers of Kyrgyzstan. Since 1974, he has been the chairman of the republican society of book lovers.

T. Umetaliev is a participant in the Great Patriotic War. He participated in the liberation of Ukraine, Moldova, Hungary, Austria, Yugoslavia, and Bulgaria.

The poet's first verses were published in 1931. His first poetry collection "Yrlary Zhiyinagy" was published in 1935. The main themes of the initial stage of T. Umetaliev's poetic creativity included love lyrics, criticism of the remnants of the old order, and the establishment of new life on Kyrgyz soil. In the pre-war years, the poet created a number of major works: the poems "Turatbay" (1938), "Love" and "Aysuluu" (1939), and the tales "Bird-Giant" (1940), "Hunter Toktomush" (1940), and others. During the Great Patriotic War, the poet created a number of works on the theme of front-line life, which were published in 1946 in the poetry collection "Zhenish" ("Victory").

In the post-war years, he wrote the poems "Kubat" (1953), whose main character was the guard commissioner Kubat Jumataev, "Word about the Shepherd" (1954), "Kanyshbek" (1955), "Song of White Gold" (1956), "Kunduzkan" (1960), "Kyzyl-Zhar" (1967), and others, in which he glorified the creative peaceful labor of the workers of Kyrgyzstan. He dedicated many poems to the theme of peace. A significant place in T. Umetaliev's work is occupied by the theme of women. In addition to the poem "Aysuluu," which is one of the bright poetic works of love lyrics, he created the poems "Jypaar," "Kunduzkan," "Kanyshbek," and large poems "Anarkan," "Two Girls," "On the Shore," and others. He created many works for children. In his work, the poet also turned to prose genres. He wrote dozens of stories, essays, and critical articles.

A significant place in T. Umetaliev's work is occupied by translation work. He translated the works of G. Heine, A. Navoi, A. S. Pushkin, V. V. Mayakovsky, A. Lakhuti, Ya. Kupala, and others into Kyrgyz. The poet's works have been published in Russian and Ukrainian, and individual poems have been published in many languages of the peoples of the USSR, as well as abroad.

In 1982, his book "Too Gulderu" ("Flowers of the Mountains," 1980) was awarded the State Prize of the Kyrgyz SSR named after Toktogul Satylganov.

Awarded the Orders of Lenin, the Patriotic War II degree, the Red Star, the Labor Red Banner, the Friendship of Peoples, the October Revolution, the "Badge of Honor," medals "For the Liberation of the Caucasus," "For the Capture of Budapest," "For Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945," "Veteran of Labor," and many others, Honorary Certificates from the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR, the Ukrainian SSR, and others.
