Poet M. Akimkodzhoev was born in the village of Bazar-Turuk in the Jumgal district of Naryn region in a peasant family.
From 1930 to 1935, he studied at the primary school in the village of Kochkorka, and in 1936-1937, he attended the Frunze Zoo-Veterinary Technical School.
He worked in his native collective farm from 1940 to 1942 as a district zootechnician, then, until 1946, as an accountant. In 1946, he was elected secretary of the village council, then worked as a team leader in the collective farms "Sovet" and "Kyzart," and from 1974 to 1980, he served as the head of the irrigation systems management in the Jumgal district.
He has been published since 1952. His first poetry collection "Too zheli" ("Mountain Breeze") was published in 1959. The main theme of his work is the life of collective farm peasants and rural youth.
He has been a member of the CPSU since 1966 and a member of the Union of Soviet Writers since 1959.
He has been awarded the medal "For Valiant Labor. In Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of V. I. Lenin," "Veteran of Labor," "For Valiant Labor in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945," "For Valiant Labor," as well as Honorary Certificates and Letters of the Supreme Soviet of the Kirghiz SSR.
