The title translates to "Poet Soviet Urmambetov."

He began his career in 1957 as an editor at Kirgosizdat, and from 1963 he served as the director of the Republican House of Actors. From 1964, he worked as a literary consultant for the Writers' Union of Kyrgyzstan in the Issyk-Kul Region, and from 1967 to 1973 and since 1987, he has been a correspondent for the newspaper "Kyrgyzstan Madeniyaty." From 1975 to 1980, he was the head of the literary department at the Toktogul Satylganov Kyrgyz State Philharmonic.
He has been published since 1949. His first poetry collection "Zhel keme" ("Sail") was published in 1958. He is the author of 12 poetry collections published in his native and Russian languages, and some of his works have been published in Latvian, Georgian, Bashkir, Karakalpak, and Ukrainian languages. He has written librettos for the operas "Ashirbay Koenkuzov" and "Janush-Bayish." He translated works by H. Heine, R. Gamzatov, A. Navoi, R. Burns, and others into Kyrgyz.
He has been a member of the USSR Writers' Union since 1958.
