Poet, storyteller-manaschi Urkash Mambetaliev

From 1955 to 1957, he served in the ranks of the Soviet Army. In 1957, he was invited to be an actor at the Issyk-Kul Regional Drama Theater in Przhevalsk. For some time, he worked at the Kyrgyz Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, and since 1973, he has been a soloist — storyteller-manaschi at the Toktogul Satylganov Kyrgyz Philharmonic.
His talent as a manaschi emerged during his acting career. Together with the folklore group of the Kyrgyz Philharmonic, he traveled to many countries around the world, presenting episodes from the treasury of ancient Kyrgyz art to audiences.
He has been writing poetry since the 1950s. His first poetry collection "Koktem" ("Spring Azure") was published in 1968. He is the author of six poetry collections. Additionally, as a storyteller-manaschi, he submitted about 3,000 lines of his own improvisations based on the epic "Manas" to the manuscript fund of the Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz SSR.
A member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union since 1965, and a member of the Union of Soviet Writers since 1982.
Awarded a Certificate of Honor from the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR.
