Poet, Translator Turdubek Elemanov
Poet and translator T. Elemanov was born in the village of Burana, Chui region of the Kyrgyz SSR. In 1948, he graduated from Ak-Beshim Secondary School, and in 1961— from the journalism department of the philological faculty of KSU.
He began his work biography in 1948 as a primary school teacher. From 1955 to 1957, he worked as a literary employee at the editorial office of the newspaper "Sovettik Kyrgyzstan." Since 1965, he taught his native language and literature at M. V. Frunze Secondary School in the Batken region of Osh province, and from 1968, he worked as an editor at the State Television and Radio Committee of the Kyrgyz SSR. Since 1979, he has been an editor of artistic translated literature at the publishing house "Kyrgyzstan," and since 1988— at the publishing house "Adabiyat."
He has been published since 1948 and is the author of six poetry collections. He has translated works by S. Marshak, A. Netto, B. Stepanuk, M. Gettuev, N. Khubiev, and others into Kyrgyz.
He has been a member of the Union of Soviet Writers since 1987.
