Prose writer Akmatbek Soltobaev Prose writer A. Soltobaev was born on January 10, 1929—September 19, 1978, in the village of Ak-Beshim in what is now the Chuy region of the Kyrgyz SSR. In 1948, he graduated from high school as an external student, in 1965—he completed the correspondence department of KGU, and in 1951, he studied at the Central Committee School under the Central Committee of the Komsomol in Moscow.

He began his labor biography in 1946 as a teacher at the Ak-Beshim Secondary School. In 1948, he was elected as the second secretary, and in 1950—first secretary of the Chuy District Committee of the Komsomol of Kyrgyzstan; from 1952 to 1954, he served as head of the department of agitation and propaganda of the Chuy Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan, and from 1954, he transitioned to journalism.
Since 1954, he worked as an editor for the district newspaper "Chuyskaya Pravda," from 1958—editor of "Chuy Pravdasy," and from 1954—editor of "Kyzyl Eginchil."

From 1960, he was the responsible secretary of the magazine "Chalkan," from 1961—editor-in-chief of the magazine "Zhas Leninchi," from 1967—director of the film studio "Kyrgyzfilm," and from 1969—editor-in-chief of the publishing house "Kyrgyzstan."
He began his creative biography in 1944 as a poet. He is the author of several collections of novellas and short stories, essays, articles on Kyrgyz art, and plays. He translated works by A. Gaidar, E. Kazakevich, and others into Kyrgyz.
A member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union since 1948, a member of the Union of Soviet Writers since 1969, and a member of the Union of Journalists of the USSR since 1959.
