Prose writer, playwright, screenwriter Erkin Borbiev


Prose writer, playwright, screenwriter E. Borbiev was born on August 12, 1937, in the village of Kashka-Suu, Sokuluk District, Kyrgyz SSR, in a teacher's family.
After graduating from Kyrgyz Secondary School No. 5 named after A. S. Pushkin in Frunze in 1956, he studied at the FPI, and from 1960 to 1966 — at the journalism department of the philological faculty of KGU; from 1971 to 1973 — a student at the Higher Directing and Screenwriting Courses in Moscow.
From 1960 to 1963, he worked as a literary employee for the inter-district newspaper "Emgek datky."
Since 1963 — secretary of the Kalinin District Committee of the Komsomol of Kyrgyzstan, instructor, head of the sector, head of the department of the Central Committee of the Komsomol of Kyrgyzstan, from 1973 — secretary of the board of the Union of Cinematographers of Kyrgyzstan, from 1974 — instructor of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan, from 1976 — deputy chairman of the Union of Cinematographers of Kyrgyzstan, and from 1988 — special correspondent for the newspaper "Soviet Culture" in Kyrgyzstan.
He has been engaged in literary creativity since 1962. He writes in Kyrgyz and Russian. His first book "Men jazdy sagyndym" ("I Long for Spring") was published in 1967. He is the author of several publications of novellas and short stories, as well as a number of scripts for feature, documentary, and television films. Since 1984, he has actively participated in the preparation for the Russian edition of the epic "Manas."
Honored Artist of the Kyrgyz SSR (1982).
Member of the CPSU since 1963, member of the Union of Writers of the USSR since 1984, member of the Union of Cinematographers of the USSR since 1973.
Awarded the medal "For Valorous Labor. In Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of V. I. Lenin," Honorary Certificates from the Supreme Council of the Kyrgyz SSR, the Central Committee of the Komsomol, and the Union of Cinematographers of the USSR.
He has the badge "Excellence in Cinematography of the USSR."
