Poet Kalibai (BARKTABAS) Osmonaliev

Poet K. Osmonaliev was born on May 27, 1938, in the village of Kichi-Kemin, Kemin District of the Kyrgyz SSR, in a peasant family. In 1956, he graduated from high school in his native village, and in 1963, he graduated from the journalism department of the philological faculty of KGU. From 1964 to 1967, he studied at the Central Committee School of the Komsomol in Moscow, and from 1977 to 1979, at the Higher Party School in Almaty.
Since 1963, he worked as an instructor, head of a lecture group, head of a sector, and deputy head of a department in the apparatus of the Central Committee of the Komsomol of Kyrgyzstan. From 1967 to 1986, he was the chief editor of the newspaper "Leninchil Jash," and from 1986 to 1988, he served as the chief editor of the State Publishing House of the Kyrgyz SSR.
He has been published since the late 1950s. His first poetry collection "Joogazyn" ("Tulip") was published in 1964. He is the author of several poetry collections, literary-critical articles and reviews, essays, and journalistic articles. The poet's poems have been published in Russian. He participated in the publication of collective translated collections.
A member of the CPSU since 1964, a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR since 1982, and a member of the Union of Journalists of the USSR since 1967.
He has been awarded medals "For Valorous Labor. In Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of V. I. Lenin," "For Labor Distinction," Honorary Certificates, and a Certificate of the Supreme Council of the Kyrgyz SSR.
